Unveiling of The Montana Football Hall of Fame
Welcome to the Montana Football Hall of Fame
“This hall of fame is something that should have been in place for years,” said Rick Halmes, Big Huddle chair . “It’s to honor all of the great accomplishments of past players, coaches and contributors that have helped support the game we all love from across the state.” We have discovered over 200 Montana student athletes that have gone on to the elite level of the NFL/CFL since 1926. The first player we have found was from Butte, Jack McAuliffe, who played with the Green Bay Packers in 1926. Butte and Anaconda produced many of the first NFL players from our state, including Bill and Milan Lazetich. Bill's son Pete, from Billings Senior, will be inducted along with his father and uncle Milan who both played for the Cleveland Rams in the 40's. We believe there are currently 21 players in the NFL/CFL from Montana high schools and colleges, that's not counting broadcasters, trainers and coaches.
